If you have ever thought of writing your life story, then Cherry Gilchrist's profound insights, combined with an easy to understand style, should have a galvanising effect.

Your Life, Your Story is a book which gives advice on style, structure, and content in eight chapters, and what makes Cherry's advice stand out is that there is no pressurising - of following every nugget of advice to the letter. The reader is advised to choose which aspects of this advice are useful.

There are also imaginative writing exercises and ideas, including cuts, the great tree, robot and dragon, writing about treasured possessions, writing a vida, postcard life stories, and the spindle of life. There's lots of resources at the end of the book, too, and this really is about as good a book as you're going to get for inspiring you to write your life story. Ironically, I was already working on mine when I was sent this to review, and the book has certainly spiced up my own approach!

As we get towards the end of the book, there is some heavy stuff, particularly the spindle of life explanations, but If this book won't inspire you to write your life story, nothing probably will!
