Cult Poet Ivor Cutler
Obituary
Written by Paul Rance
Wednesday, 8 March 2006
Cult Scottish poet Ivor Cutler died in March. He
was 83, and his fans included The Beatles and John Peel.
John Lennon and Paul McCartney's fondness for his surreal,
offbeat poetry, got Cutler a role in the 'Magical Mystery Tour'
movie as Buster Bloodvessel, and he
appeared on John Peel's show from 1969 right up to the legendary
DJ's death in 2004.
Ivor Cutler was a teacher, retiring in 1980. He first began to
get noticed reciting his work on the BBC's 'Home Service' between
1957 and 1963. His 1967 album, 'Ludo', was produced by George
Martin.
Unconventional to the last, lovely Ivor was a
member of the Noise Abatement Society and the Voluntary
Euthanasia Society.
