J. G. Ballard - His Musical Legacy
Written by Paul Rance
Tuesday, 21 April 2009

J. G. Ballard, who died on April 19th, 2009, was one of the most respected writers of the post-WWII period. His bleak work focussing on the sprawl of concrete, and the dehumanising effect of machines, led to a new adjective in the English language - 'Ballardian'. His most famous novels included 'Empire of the Sun' and 'Crash', both adapted for the big screen.

But Ballard's musical legacy is incredibly impressive, influencing Radiohead, Suede, Manic Street Preachers, Hawkwind, Gary Numan, Buggles, Klaxons, and Joy Division. Read more here.
