'Rainbow'
was a true ITV children's classic programme, which ran
from 1972 to 1992. Although aimed at the under fives,
'Rainbow' built up a cult status with adults, and also
won the 'Best Children's Programme' for 1975, awarded by
the Society of Film and Television Arts.
The characters in 'Rainbow' were particularly memorable
and lovable; loud Zippy, brown, bungling bear, Bungle,
shy pink hippo, George - and, trying to keep order, was
genial Geoffrey.
