ABSOLUTELY
FABULOUS
'Absolutely Fabulous' has become
one of the all-time favourite British sitcoms. Written by
Jennifer Saunders, 'Absolutely Fabulous' revolves around two
hideous, but hilarious, mutton dressed as lamb middle-aged women
- Patsy (Joanna Lumley) and Eddy (Ms. Saunders).
'Absolutely Fabulous' came out of a sketch from the popular BBC
sketch show, 'French & Saunders', which co-starred Jennifer
Saunders and Dawn French. This sketch originated from the 'The
Comic Strip Presents...' TV play, 'Eddie Monsoon: A Life?'
Often called simply 'Ab Fab', the show would never appeal to
really conservative audiences, with its covering drugs, sex, and
drunkenness in a quite explicit way. Becoming popular throughout
the English-speaking world, 'Absolutely Fabulous' has been
broadcast in the U.S. on the Comedy Central network, and on
Oxygen in Australia, by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation,
and in Canada by Comedy Network.
- Paul Rance.
