THE PROFESSIONALS

Macho, action-packed ITV (LWT) crime series, often parodied, with Martin Shaw as Ray Doyle, and Lewis Collins as William Bodie, with the cool Gordon Jackson as their boss George Cowley at the fictional CI5 (Criminal Intelligence 5).

Created by Brian Clemens, 'The Professionals' ran on ITV from 1977 to 1983. The memorable theme music was composed by Laurie Johnson.

The interaction between Shaw and Collins was one of the most appealing aspects of the show. Shaw's perm was a nod at fashionable male hairstyles of the 1970s, while the short back and sides of Collins was also a sign that straight, long hair was going out of fashion.
