Burnley: Jensen, Kalvenes, Carlisle, Jordan, Mears, Alexander (Thompson 82), Blake (Eagles 72), McCann, Elliott, Paterson (Guerrero 72), Fletcher.

Attendance: 27,385.

Notes: This was Burnley's first ever Premier League game, and their first in the top flight since 1976.

Aug 19 Burnley 1 Blake (19) Manchester United 0

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Carlisle, Bikey, Jordan, Blake, Elliott, Alexander (Gudjonsson 73), McCann, Paterson (Eagles 73), Fletcher.

Manchester United: Foster, O'Shea, Brown (Neville 71), Evans, Evra, Park, Anderson (Valencia 59), Carrick, Giggs, Rooney, Owen (Berbatov 63).

Attendance: 20,872.

Notes: Burnley's first win in the Premier League, and against the champions at that, was sealed by Robbie Blake's blistering angled volley. Michael Carrick's penalty for Manchester United was saved by the beastly Brian Jensen.

Aug 23 Burnley 1 Elliott (34) Everton 0

Burnley: Jensen, Jordan, Carlisle, Bikey, Mears, Alexander, Blake (Guerrero 85), McCann, Elliott, Paterson (Eagles 79), Fletcher (Thompson 86).

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Baines, Yobo, Saha, Neville, Pinaar, Cahill, Osman, Fellaini (Jo 65), Rodwell.

Attendance: 19,983.

Notes: The gifted Wade Elliott kept up Burnley's reputation for scoring spectacular goals, with a sublime, curling strike. For the second game running, the visitors to Turf Moor missed a penalty. This time Louis Saha blasted wide.

Aug 29 Chelsea 3 Anelka (45), Ballack (47), A. Cole (52) Burnley 0

Chelsea: Cech, A. Cole, Essien, Carvalho, Lampard, Drogba (Kalou 76), Ballack (Mikel 83), Bosingwa (Belletti 66), Deco, Terry, Anelka.

Burnley: Jensen, Jordan, Carlisle, Bikey, Mears, Alexander (McDonald 74), Blake (Guerrero 78), Elliott, McCann, Fletcher, Paterson (Gudjonsson 59).

Attendance: 40,906.

Notes: Martin Paterson missed a great early chance for the Clarets, and the rest was history...

Sept 12 Liverpool 4 Benayoun (3) (27, 61, 82), Kuyt (41) Burnley 0

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson (Degen 64), Insua, Carragher, Skrtel, Gerrard, Riera, Benayoun, Lucas, Torres (Ngog 75), Kuyt (Voronin 69).

Burnley: Jensen, Alexander (Gudjonsson 75), Carlisle, Mears, Bikey, Jordan, Elliott, McCann, Fletcher, Paterson (Nugent 70). Blake (Eagles 58).

Attendance: 43,817.

Notes: Yossi Benayoun scores his third hat-trick for Liverpool, as Burnley continue to struggle away from home.

Sept 19 Burnley 3 Alexander (13, pen.), Nugent (2) (67, 86) Sunderland 1 Bent (39)

Burnley: Jensen, Alexander, Carlisle, Mears, Bikey, Jordan, Elliott, McCann (Gudjonsson 28), Fletcher (Eagles 64), Paterson (Nugent 57), Blake.

Sunderland: Gordon, Bardsley, McCartney, Turner, Ferdinand, Malbranque (Jones 62), Richardson, Cana, Reid, Campbell (Henderson 75), Bent.

Attendance: 20,196.

Notes: David Nugent comes off the bench to score two fine goals, as the Clarets make it three home wins out of three.

Sept 26 Tottenham Hotspur 5 Keane (4) (18, pen., 74, 77, 87), Jenas (33) Burnley 0

Tottenham Hotspur: Cudicini, Huddlesteone, Lennon (Bale 85), Jenas, Keane, Palacios, Defoe (Crouch 56), Bassong (Dawson 88), Kranjcar, Corluka, Assou-Ekotto.

Burnley: Jensen, Jordan, Bikey, Carlisle, Mears, Alexander, Elliott, Gudjonsson, Blake (Guerrero 80), Fletcher (Thompson 72), Nugent (Eagles 63).

Attendance: 35,462.

Notes: Robbie Keane scored four goals in a match for the first time in his career. Burnley still search for their first away goal and away point in the Premier League.

Oct 3 Burnley 2 Fletcher (53), Bikey (62) Birmingham City 1 Larsson (90)

Burnley: Jensen, Alexander, Carlisle, Caldwell, Fletcher (Eagles 72), Elliott, Mears, Blake (Kalvenes 90), Bikey, Nugent (Thompson 87), Jordan.

Birmingham City: Hart, Carr, Bowyer, O'Connor, Ferguson, Johnson, Dann, McFadden, Fahey (Larsson 45), Queudrue (Ridgewell 45), Tainio (Phillips 67).

Attendance: 20,102.

Notes: Four home wins out of four for the Clarets, who should have won by a wider margin. Burnley become the first side promoted to the Premier League to win their first four home games, and the Clarets have now won ten home games in a row. Steven Fletcher and Andre Bikey also scored their first goals at Turf Moor.

Oct 18 Blackburn Rovers 3 Dunn (9), Di Santo (21), Chimbonda (43) Burnley 2 Blake (5), Eagles (90)

Blackburn Rovers: Robinson, Jacobsen, Samba, Nelsen, Dunn, Gamst Pedersen, Nzonzi, Andrews, Diouf (Emerton 81), Di Santo (Roberts 75), Chimbonda.

Burnley: Jensen, Jordan, Carlisle, Caldwell, Mears, Alexander, Bikey (McDonald 78), Elliott, Fletcher (Eagles 60), Blake, Nugent (Thompson 72).

Attendance: 26,689.

Notes: Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen turned in a jittery display in the first top-flight Burnley-Blackburn derby since 1966. Burnley scored their first away goals in the Premier League, with fine efforts from Robbie Blake and sub Chris Eagles, but the Clarets have now lost all their five away games this season. They now also haven't beaten neighbours Rovers since 1979.

Oct 24 Burnley 1 Fletcher (4) Wigan Athletic 3 Rodallega (2) (11, 51), Boyce (76)

Burnley: Jensen (Penny 15), Jordan, Carlisle, Caldwell, Mears, Alexander, Bikey (McDonald 82), Elliott, Fletcher, Blake (Nugent 67), Eagles.

Wigan Athletic: Kirkland, Thomas, Scharner (King 78), Scotland, N'Zogbia, Boyce, Bramble, Rodallega, Melchiot, Diame, Figueroa (Gomez 31).

Attendance: 19,430.

Notes: Burnley's first top-flight meeting with Wigan saw the visitors end Burnley's 10-game winning streak at home. Steven Fletcher scored from close range early on for the home side, but a slip by 'keeper Brian Jensen (who was injured and had to be replaced in the process) let in Hugo Rodallega for a simple equalizer. The same player rifled in a fine second, and Wigan defender Emmerson Boyce scored the third after slack marking.

Oct 31 Burnley 2 Alexander (2) (20, pen., 77) Hull City 0

Burnley: Jensen, Alexander, Carlisle, Caldwell, Fletcher (Nugent 78), Elliott, Mears, Blake (McDonald 72), Bikey, Jordan, Eagles (Guerrero 84).

Hull City: Duke, Dawson, Gardner, McShane (Mendy 59), Geovanni, Hunt (Barmby 70), Marney, Ghilas, Zayatte, Vennegoor of Hesselink (Altidore 59), Olofinjana.

Attendance: 20,299.

Notes: Making his 100th league appearance for the Clarets, Graham Alexander belied his 98 years to score two goals which saw off an unlucky Hull City side. Alexander slotted home a dubious first-half penalty, but his second was a long-range thunderbolt. Hull's Geovanni had an equalising 'goal' from a sublime free-kick harshly ruled out, lost his temper, and was shown a yellow card for his pains. A rash tackle minutes later saw him shown another yellow, and Hull's misery was then compounded by ex-Luton stalwart Alexander. His old club, meanwhile, were losing at home to Rushden five divisions lower. A funny game, football.

Nov 7 Manchester City 3 Wright-Phillips (43), Toure (55), Bellamy (58) Burnley 3 Alexander (19, pen.), Fletcher (32), McDonald (87)

Manchester City: Given, Bridge, Zabaleta, Ireland, Wright-Phillips, Barry, Lescott, Adebayor, Toure, Tevez (Petrov 73), Bellamy.

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Jordan, Carlisle, Caldwell, Alexander, Bikey (McDonald 62), Eagles (Nugent 71), Elliott, Blake (Gudjonsson 62), Fletcher.

Attendance: 47,205.

Notes: Burnley gained their first point away from home in the Premier League with an impressive performance against moneybags Manchester City. Though taking the lead after another dubious penalty award, which Graham Alexander inevitably tucked away, the Clarets were worth the two-goal lead Steven Fletcher gave them on 32 minutes. City roared back with goals from Shaun Wright-Phillips, Kolo Toure (scoring after a dodgy free-kick award), and Craig Bellamy, but hesitancy in the City defence let in Burnley substitute Kevin McDonald to give the visitors a deserved point.

Nov 21 Burnley 1 Caldwell (9) Aston Villa 1 Heskey (86)

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Carlisle, Caldwell, Jordan, Alexander, Bikey, Eagles (McDonald 69), Elliott, Blake (Gudjonsson 81), Fletcher (Nugent 74).

Aston Villa: Friedel, L. Young (Heskey 80), Cuellar, Dunne, Warnock, Sidwell (Downing 70), Petrov, A. Young, Milner, Carew, Agbonlahor.

Attendance: 21,179.

Notes: Another impressive performance by the Clarets, and they took an early lead when skipper Steven Caldwell bundled in a Robbie Blake free-kick. Villa substitute Emile Heskey scored a late equaliser, nodding in after a good delivery from fellow England international James Milner.

Nov 28 West Ham United 5 Collison (18), Stanislas (33), Cole (43, pen.), Franco (51), Jimenez (64, pen.) Burnley 3 Fletcher (2) (68, 74), Eagles (90)

West Ham United: Green, Gabbidon, Parker, Franco (Jimenez 60), Cole (Hines 45), Kovac, Spector, Da Costa, Ilunga, Collison (Faubert 77), Stanislas.

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Jordan (Kalvenes 55), Carlisle, Caldwell, Alexander (McDonald 70), Bikey, Eagles, Elliott, Fletcher, Blake (Nugent 55).

Attendance: 34,003.

Notes: Calamitous defending by Burnley cost the Clarets dearly, as the visitors created as many chances as the Hammers. Even at 5-0 down, Burnley clawed three goals back, and they actually created as many chances as the home side in the 90 minutes. David Nugent missed two good chances for Burnley, and Chris Eagles hit a post with a great effort. Steven Fletcher scored twice, then Eagles, but Burnley's dismal day was summed up by captain Steven Caldwell's late red card.

Dec 5 Portsmouth 2 Hreidarsson (65), Dindane (84) Burnley 0

Portsmouth: Begovic, O'Hara, Hreidarsson, Brown, Finnan, Smith (Kanu 59), Boateng (Mullins 90), Dindane, Ben Haim, Yebda, Wilson.

Burnley: Jensen, Alexander, Carlisle, McDonald, Mears, Blake (Thompson 68), Bikey, Elliott, Jordan, Fletcher, Eagles (Guerrero 73).

Attendance: 17,822.

Notes: A better performance from Burnley's defence in this game, but, in attack, the Clarets didn't get the breaks. Burnley 'keeper Brian Jensen saved from an Aruna Dindane penalty (which was one of the more ridiculous penalty awards this season), and then saved again when the same player seized on the rebound. But second-half goals from Hermann Hreidarsson and Dindane flattered the hosts.

Dec 12 Burnley 1 Elliott (60) Fulham 1 Zamora (50)

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Jordan, Carlisle, Caldwell, Alexander, Bikey (McDonald 77), Eagles (Guerrero 86), Fletcher, Blake (Nugent 57), Elliott.

Fulham: Schwarzer, Konchesky, Paintsil, Hangeland, Baird, Nevland (Gera 77), Duff, Hughes, Dempsey, Zamora, Greening.

Attendance: 18,397.

Notes: Burnley earned another Premier League point, when Wade Elliott's volley, on the hour, cancelled out Bobby Zamora's good angled finish just after half-time.

Dec 16 Burnley 1 Alexander (28, pen.) Arsenal 1 Fabregas (7)

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Jordan, Carlisle, Caldwell, Alexander, Bikey (Gudjonsson 70), Elliott, McDonald, Fletcher (Nugent 83), Eagles (Blake 83).

Arsenal: Almunia, Sagna, Silvestre, Gallas, Vermaelen, Fabregas (Ramsey 43), Nasri, Diaby, Song, Walcott (Eduardo 64), Arshavin.

Attendance: 21,309.

Notes: The Clarets were unlucky not to gain all three points in an entertaining encounter. Though Arsenal took an early lead through Cesc Fabregas, Burnley could have scored even earlier when Gunners defender Thomas Vermaelen headed against his own crossbar. Andrey Ashavin came close to doubling the visitors lead with a crisp shot which hit the post, but from then on Burnley gained control. Graham Alexander scored his 100th League goal, when converting a penalty, after Andre Bikey had been brought down, Chris Eagles hit the post with an excellent long-range effort in the second half, and Burnley striker Steven Fletcher's 'goal' 20 minutes from time was wrongly disallowed for offside.

Dec 20 Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 Milijas (15), Doyle (50) Burnley 0

Wolverhampton Wanderers: Hahnemann, Stearman, Craddock, Henry, Ward, Berra, Jarvis (Iwelumo 87), Milijas (Mancienne 69), Foley, Doyle (Elokobi 90), Ebanks-Blake.

Burnley: Jensen, Jordan, Carlisle (Duff 34), Caldwell (Gudjonsson 69), Mears, Alexander, Bikey (Nugent 54), McDonald, Elliott, Eagles, Fletcher.

Attendance: 27,410.

Notes: Burnley's dreadful away form continued at Wolves, as the home side scored twice with close-range finishes from Nenad Milijas and Kevin Doyle. Steven Fletcher had a depressing second half - missing a good chance, and having two penalty appeals turned down. Another bad Burnley away day.

Dec 26 Burnley 1 Nugent (56) Bolton Wanderers 1 Taylor (29)

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Jordan, Bikey, Duff, Alexander, McDonald, Elliott, Fletcher (Blake 79), Nugent, Eagles.

Bolton Wanderers: Jaaskelainen, Taylor, Knight, Lee (Gardner 73), Basham, Cahill, Steinsson, Cohen, Robinson, Klasnic (M. Davies 70), K. Davies.

Attendance: 21,761.

Notes: Another entertaining game at Turf Moor saw honours even between these Lancashire rivals, as they met in the top-flight for the first time since 1964. Matthew Taylor had given Wanderers the lead with a fierce free-kick, but on-loan Burnley striker David Nugent headed home a Wade Elliott cross to equalize for the home side. well's late red card.

Dec 28 Everton 2 Vaughan (83), Pienaar (90) Burnley 0

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Baines, Heitinga, Bilyaletdinov (Vaughan 82), Cahill (Neville 58), Pienaar, Osman, Yakubu, Neill, Fellaini.

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Jordan, Bikey, Duff, Alexander, McDonald, Elliott (Blake 85), Nugent (Kalvenes 65), Eagles, Fletcher (Thompson 82).

Attendance: 39,419.

Notes: Burnley's dismal away form shows no signs of improving, as they slumped to their 9th away defeat in 10 Premier League away games this season. Burnley started brightly, but after Stephen Jordan's dismissal for two yellow cards in the second half, Everton went on to secure the points with good finishes by James Vaughan and Stephen Pienaar.

Jan 16 Manchester United 3 Berbatov (64), Rooney (69), Diouf (90) Burnley 0

Manchester United: Van der Saar, Neville, Evra, Evans, Brown, Carrick (Anderson 64), Nani, Scholes, Valcencia, Berbatov (Owen 74), Rooney (Diouf 74).

Burnley: Jensen, Jordan, Edgar, Duff, Mears, Alexander, Elliott, McDonald (Gudjonsson 74), Eagles (Blake 83), Fletcher (Thompson 36), Nugent.

Attendance: 75,120.

Notes: Brian Laws saw the Clarets lose again away from home in his first game in charge after Owen Coyle's departure to Bolton. Burnley had chances with the score goalless, through Steven Fletcher and David Nugent, but Dimitar Berbatov, Wayne Rooney and Mame Diouf scored classy goals to give Manchester United an undeserved winning margin. Burnley substitute Steven Thompson also headed against a post in the second half.

Jan 26 Bolton Wanderers 1 Lee (35) Burnley 0

Bolton Wanderers: Jaaskelainen, Steinsson, Cahill, Knight, Ricketts, Lee, Muamba, Cohen, Taylor (Gardner 77), K. Davies, Klasnic (Elmander 62).

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Duff, Carlisle, Kalvenes, Elliott, Alexander (Paterson 16), McCann (McDonald 12), Eagles (Nimani 65), Nugent, Fletcher.

Attendance: 23,986.

Notes: Owen Coyle got a lively reception from the Burnley fans as the Clarets bad luck away from home continued. Losing Graham Alexander and Chris McCann to injury early on, Burnley were beaten by a first-half strike from Chung-Yong Lee.

Jan 30 Burnley 1 Fletcher (50) Chelsea 2 Anelka (17), Terry (82)

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Cort, Carlisle, Kalvenes (Edgar 35), Elliott, Bikey, McDonald (Paterson 60), Eagles, Blake (Thompson 72), Fletcher.

Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Alex, Terry, A. Cole (Deco 76), J. Cole (Sturridge 72), Ballack, Lampard, Zhirkov, Malouda, Anelka.

Attendance: 21,131.

Notes: In his first home game in charge, Brian Laws saw a spirited Burnley display end with no reward against the Premiership leaders. Nicolas Anelka calmly put Chelsea ahead, but Burnley matched their monied opponents in the second-half, and were rewarded when Steven Fletcher equalized with a well taken left-foot finish. But the "he scored away" headlines were set up, when the under-fire England captain John Terry scored with a powerful header late on.

Feb 6 Burnley 2 Nugent (14), Fox (55) West Ham United 1 Ilan (81)

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Cort, Carlisle, Fox (Edgar 86), Elliott, Bikey, McDonald, Blake (Paterson 72), Nugent (Thompson 88), Fletcher.

West Ham United: Green, Faubert, Tomkins, Upson, Spector, Parker, Behrami, Collison (Stanislas 62), Noble (Ilan 77), Cole, McCarthy (Mido 46).

Attendance: 21,001.

Notes: Burnley were quite fortunate to come away with the spoils, to give Brian Laws his first win as Burnley manager, and the Clarets first Premiership win for over three months. Debutant Danny Fox set up David Nugent to lob West Ham 'keeper Robert Green for the opener, inside the first fifteen minutes, then Fox curled in a superb free-kick in the second-half. Ilan tucked in a late consolation for the Hammers, who twice hit the woodwork, and had another effort cleared off the line, and a 'goal' disallowed.

Feb 9 Fulham 3 Murphy (23), Elm (31), Zamora (53) Burnley 0

Fulham: Schwarzer, Baird, Hangeland, Hughes, Shorey, Davies (Greening 62), Murphy, Etuhu, Duff (Riise 77), Zamora (Okaka 71), Elm.

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Carlisle, Cort (Eagles 32), Edgar, Bikey, McDonald, Fox, Elliott (Cork 56), Nugent (Paterson 76), Fletcher.

Attendance: 23,005.

Notes: You wouldn't have thought Burnley's away form could dip much lower, but they achived that feat at Craven Cottage with their 12th defeat in 13 away games this season. The Clarets were, in truth, unfortunate, as Fulham's two first-half goals from Danny Murphy and David Elm looked offside. Tyrone Mears also thumped a free-kick against Fulham's woodwork in the first-half. Bobby Zamora's free-kick meant another unfair scoreline on Burnley.

Feb 21 Aston Villa 5 Young (32), Downing (2) (56, 58), Heskey (61), Agbonlahor (68) Burnley 2 Fletcher (10), Paterson (90)

Aston Villa: Friedel, Cuellar, Dunne, Collins, Warnock, Downing, Milner, Petrov, A. Young (Sidwell 82), Agbonlahor (Carew 71), Heskey (Delfouneso 76).

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Carlisle, Cort, Fox, Eagles, Bikey, Cork, McDonald (Elliott 64), Fletcher (Paterson 82), Nugent (Nimani N'galou 70).

Attendance: 38,709.

Notes: When Steven Fletcher tapped in from David Nugent's cross early on, you wondered if the Clarets were going to finally get the breaks away from home. But things deteriorated after Ashley Young's first-half shot was deflected in off Burnley's Danny Fox, through a crowded penalty area, to give Villa the equalizer. Villa stormed ahead in the second-half, with Stewart Downing grabbing a couple of goals, his first being a a shot from long-range, then he scored from close-range, again aided by a Fox deflection. Emile Heskey and Gabriel Agbonlahor also scored from close-range to give the home side a 5-1 lead with over 20 minutes left. Substitute Martin Paterson netted from close-range for the visitors late on, but there was nothing to be happy about for Burnley. It's now 13 away defeats out of 14!

Feb 27 Burnley 1 Paterson (31) Portsmouth 2 Piquionne (25), Yebda (76, pen.)

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Carlisle, Cort, Fox, Elliott (Eagles 63), McDonald, Bikey (Cork 63), Blake (Thompson 80), Fletcher, Paterson.

Portsmouth: James, Finnan, Rocha, Hreidarsson, Belhadj, Wilson, Webber (Diop 90), O'Hara (Brown 90), Yebda, Owusu-Abeyie (Utaka 40), Piquionne.

Attendance: 19,714.

Notes: Portsmouth played liked a team without any fears of possible extinction, and thoroughly deserved their victory. Burnley went behind after an unmarked Frederic Piquionne scored at the far post after 25 minutes. Martin Paterson scored a superb equalizer for the Clarets, with a flicked lob over England 'keeper David James, but Pompey wouldn't crumble, and Jamie O'Hara cracked a superb shot against the Burnley crossbar. Clarke Carlisle gave away two second-half penalties with woeful defending, and though O'Hara's first penalty was saved by Brian Jensen, Hassan Yebda buried the second penalty. Steven Fletcher headed over from a great position for the home side, but Portsmouth were worthy winners.

Mar 6 Arsenal 3 Fabregas (34), Walcott (60), Arshavin (90) Burnley 1 Nugent (50)

Arsenal: Almunia, Eboue, Silvestre, Vermaelen, Clichy, Walcott, Denilson, Nasri, Rosicky (Arshavin 61), Fabregas (Diaby 39), Bendtner (Eduardo 73).

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Carlisle, Cort, Fox, Alexander (Bikey 65), Cork, McDonald (Elliott 53), Paterson (Thompson 73), Eagles, Nugent.

Attendance: 60,043.

Notes: Burnley's away woes show no signs of abating in a game Arsenal dominated throughout - though the Clarets did equalize through a David Nugent lob in the second-half. For the home side, Cesc Fabregas scored from close-range, Theo Walcott hit the second, with a good finish from the edge of the box, and Andrey Arshavin rattled in a late third.

Mar 10 Burnley 1 Nugent (52) Stoke City 1 Tuncay (23)

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Carlisle, Cort, Fox, Alexander, Cork (McDonald 46), Eagles, Thompson (Elliott 71), Nugent, Paterson.

Stoke City: Sorensen, Wilkinson, Huth, Abdoulaye Faye, Collins, Lawrence (Pugh 63), Delap, Whitehead, Etherington, Tuncay, Sidibe (Kitson 63).

Attendance: 20,323.

Notes: A Tuncay header from a Rory Delap throw gave the visitors a first-half lead, but a fine David Nugent header levelled things. However, a point will not satisfy the Clarets in their relegation fight.

Mar 13 Burnley 1 Thompson (73) Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 Jarvis (26), Carlisle o.g. (47, o. g.)

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Carlisle, Cort, Fox (Jordan 39), Elliott, Alexander, Bikey (Blake 54), Eagles (Thompson (54), Paterson, Nugent.

Wolverhampton Wanderers: Hahnemann, Zubar, Craddock, Berra, Ward, Foley, Henry, Jones (Keogh 70), Guedioura (Mancienne 59), Jarvis (Ebanks-Blake 79), Doyle.

Attendance: 21,217.

Notes: Burnley's poor run of form continued with a defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Wolves. A mistake by Burnley defender Tyrone Mears let in Matthew Jarvis for an easy finish, and a misdirected shot by Adlene Guedioura went in off Clarke Carlisle for the visitors second in the second-half. Burnley were out of luck all afternoon, as David Nugent and Robbie Blake hit the woodwork, and the home side had a strong claim for a penalty turned down. Steven Thompson did head a consolation goal, though.

Mar 20 Wigan Athletic 1 Rodallega (90) Burnley 0

Wigan Athletic: Kirkland, Melchiot, Caldwell, Barmble, Figueroa, McCarthy, Scharner (Scotland 33), Diame, Thomas (Moses 74), Moreno, Rodallega.

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Duff, Cort, Jordan, Alexander, Elliott, McDonald, Paterson (Eagles 82), Fletcher (Blake 68), Nugent.

Attendance: 18,498.

Notes: Hugo Rodallega's headed goal, at the death of this vitally important game for both sides, may have just broken Burnley hearts. Again, the Clarets played okay, but they seem to be having no luck at all on their travels.

Mar 28 Burnley 0 Blackburn Rovers 1 Dunn (20, pen.)

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Cort, Duff, Jordan (Fox 43), Alexander (Eagles 71), Elliott, McDonald, Paterson (Blake 59), Nugent, Fletcher.

Blackburn Rovers: Brown, Salgado (Chimbonda 84), Samba, Jones, Givet, Diouf (Emerton 65), Gamst Pedersen, Nzonzi, Dunn, Olsson, Roberts (Di Santo 74).

Attendance: 21,546.

Notes: Blackburn won this local derby after Martin Olsson appeared to dive to win a penalty for the visitors, and David Dunn slotted home the resulting spot-kick. Both sides had their chances, but Burnley's relegation, sadly, seems certain now that they are struggling at home as well as away from Turf Moor.

Apr 3 Burnley 1 Fletcher (71) Manchester City 6 Adebayor (2) (4, 45), Bellamy (5), Tevez (7), Vieira (20), Kompany (58)

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Cort, Duff, Fox, Alexander, Blake (Elliott 45), McDonald (Cork 45), Eagles, Nugent, Fletcher (Paterson 81).

Manchester City: Given, Onuoha, Toure, Kompany, Sylvinho (De Jong 67), Johnson, Vieira, Barry, Bellamy, Tevez (Nimely 83), Adebayor (Santa Cruz 79).

Attendance: 21,330.

Notes: Burnley were blown away in the first 10 minutes of this game, and were 5-0 down at half-time in a stunning performance by the visitors, and indeed no team in the18 years of the Premier League had scored 5 goals in the first half of a game before. Easy goals for Emmanuel Adebayor (twice), Craig Bellamy, Carlos Tevez, Patrick Vieira (his first for City), and Vincent Kompany meant Steven Fletcher's good finish for the Clarets was the scantest of consolations. It'll be hard to see Burnley picking themselves up after this mauling.

Apr 10 Hull City 1 Kilbane (3) Burnley 4 Paterson (35), Alexander (2 pens.) (64, 70), Elliott (90)

Hull City: Myhill, McShane (Giovanni 67), Sonko, Mouyokolo, Dawson (Barmby 60), Mendy, Boateng, Bullard, Kilbane, Altidore, Fagan (Vennegoor of Hesselink 74).

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Duff (Caldwell 85), Cort, Fox, Alexander, Cork, Elliott, Paterson, Fletcher (Bikey 86), Nugent (Thompson 90).

Attendance: 24,369.

Notes: Burnley could be up for charges of animal cruelty after the battering they gave to the Tigers yesterday! The Clarets first away win of the season seemed as unlikely as snow in August for much of the first-half, as Kevin Kilbane headed the home side ahead very early on, and Burnley 'keeper Brian Jensen seemed a bag of nerves. But a brilliant turn and shot from Martin Paterson revitalised Burnley, and in the second-half they romped home - albeit with the help of two contestable penalties, both of which Graham Alexander stroked home with breathtaking nonchalance. Wade Elliott's sublime curling free-kick late on sealed a day where, for once on their travels, everything went Burnley's way.

Apr 17 Sunderland 2 Campbell (25), Bent (40) Burnley 1 Thompson (82)

Sunderland: Gordon, Hutton, Turner, Mensah (Ferdinand 45), Richardson, Campbell, Henderson, Meyler (Zenden 88), Malbranque, Jones, Bent (Benjani 90).

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Cort, Duff, Fox, Alexander, Eagles, Elliott, Cork (Blake 81), Paterson (Thompson 45), Fletcher.

Attendance: 41,341.

Notes: Two simple goals for Fraizer Campbell and Darren Bent saw Sunderland cruise to a comfortable win despite Steven Thompson's fine late strike.

Apr 25 Burnley 0 Liverpool 4 Gerrard (2) (52, 59), Rodriguez (74), Babel (90)

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Duff, Cort, Fox, Paterson (Eagles 71), Alexander (Blake 63), Cork, Elliott, Nugent (Thompson 77), Fletcher.

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Ayala, Carragher, Agger (Lucas 77), Rodriguez, Aquilani, Mascherano, Babel, Gerrard (Pacheco 82), Kuyt (Benayoun 80).

Attendance: 21,553.

Notes: Burnley were relegated in a game that typified their season. The Clarets played pretty well against one of the Premier League's best teams, yet somehow lost 4-0 after an even first-half of no goals. Good strikes by Steven Gerrard (twice - his first deflecting in off Leon Cort) and Maxi Rodriguez sealed Burnley's fate, and Ryan Babel's burst through to slot home Liverpool's fourth, when offside, just rubbed salt in the wound.

May 1 Birmingham City 2 Jensen (29, o. g.) Benitez (41) Burnley 1 Thompson (87)

Birmingham City: Hart, Parnaby (Fahey 79), Johnson, Ridgewell, Vignal, Larsson, Ferguson, Bowyer, McFadden (Michel 65), Jerome (Carsley 89), Benitez.

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Caldwell, Cort, Fox, Alexander (McDonald 85), Elliott, Cork, Paterson, Fletcher (Thompson 67), Nugent (Blake 65).

Attendance: 24,578.

Notes: Burnley's last away game of the season predictably ended in defeat, with 'keeper Brian Jensen unluckily deflecting in an effort by Cameron Jerome, and Christian Benitez touching in a second for the home side in the first-half. Substitute Steven Thompson finished well for the Clarets, but it was all too late.

May 9 Burnley 4 Elliott (42), Cork (54), Paterson (71), Thompson (88) Tottenham Hotspur 2 Bale (30), Modric (32)

Burnley: Jensen, Mears, Caldwell, Bikey, Fox, Alexander, Paterson (Eagles 90), Elliott, Cork, Nugent (Blake 78), Fletcher (Thompson 85).

Tottenham Hotspur: Alnwick, Kaboul, Dawson, King, Assou-Ekotto, Huddlesteone (Palacios 62), Lennon, Bale, Modric, Crouch (Gudjohnsen 84), Defoe (Pavlyuchenko 61).

Attendance: 21,161.

Notes: Excellent finishing by Gareth Bale and Luka Modric gave Spurs a 2-0 lead, and it looked like business as usual for the Clarets. Wade Elliott slotted home to give Burnley hope, and though a shot by Aaron Lennon hit the post, Burnley deserved their victory. A thumping header by Jack Cork from Martin Paterson's great cross levelled things, then Paterson's super right-foot finish from Stephen Fletcher's cross put the home side ahead. Steven Thompson's poked effort made it 4-2, as the Clarets sad season ended on a high, against a side that had just qualified for the Champions League.
