Amazon.co.uk Review - Wii Sports:

In a nutshell:
As if the idea of five games in one package didn't sound a good enough deal on its own the Wii's best multiplayer compendium comes free with the console.

The lowdown:
Clearly realising that they need to provide some quick and obvious reasons why the Wii Remote is such a good idea Nintendo have packed in this compilation with the console, which includes simple versions of tennis, golf, baseball, bowling and boxing. The four player tennis game is the obvious stand out as you swing the Remote exactly as you would a real tennis racket, with the game seeming to almost magically interpret your movements into the game. All the other games work in a similar way, as you hold the Remote like a golf club or ready it like a baseball bat - you can even use it to gently roll bowling bowls and add some subtle aftertouch. The graphics make be purposefully basic but these are the games to instantly prove why the Wii is going to be such a revolution.

Most exciting moment:
While even Wii Tennis can be played with very minor movements of the Wii Remote the boxing game actively encourages you to act things out properly. You hold up both the Remote and the nunchuck to simulate your two hands and then duck and weave as you switch between trying to pummel your opponent and dodging or blocking their own attacks.

Since you ask:
You can use your own customised Mii Channel character in any of the games for that personal touch. The idea was originally just a joke featuring caricatures of Nintendo's top brass for a press conference, but it proved so popular that Nintendo ensured anyone could make their own character to play with.

The bottom line:
Five of the best games on the Wii and they all come free with the console!-HARRISON DENT

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It's Something Different
When it comes to video game companies, the last 20 years has been full of them, and they have pretty much all been the same, churning out countless recreations of games from the past in a new, up-to-date form. Even Nintendo themselves are guilty of this, with many iterations of Mario Kart, Zelda, and Pokemon (not to say that these games aren't good). You could compare the video games market to that of cars.

Cars come in many differnet shapes and sizes with different functions for different purposes, you couldn't live in a world where every single car was a huge 4x4 juggernaut which guzzles petrol like the huge beasts that they are. You need smaller, more compact and practical cars too, for that sort of person. Nintendo offer a console which focuses on this audience.

The Wii is in no way powerful. Sure, it beats the Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox hands-down, but compared to the Xbox 360 and the to-be-released PS3 (in Europe), it lacks any real "wowness" but it can still deliver a nice visual eperience, however that is not what the Wii is about.

If people think of a game in general, the first thing they question is the graphics. And this is because graphics is what has become the only improvement with each installment of consoles thus far (apart from the DS, of course. But this is all to do with Nintendo's new philosphy). This time round however, Nintendo are focusing on what games should ultimately be about: the gameplay! You know, that thing that games occassionaly have? I personally hope that with the Wii people will ask "How does it play?"

The Wii opens new ways to play older genres, such as sport, FPS (first person shooter), beat-'em-ups, racing etc. and will not only (hopefully) introduce some brand-new genres, but also genres which many console-based gamers have missed out on such as RTS (Real-time strategy, e.g. Age of Empires) because the control method just wasn't right.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 really are for the kind of gamer which is heavily focused of graphics over gameplay, as all the games so far are exactly the same as games you could find on the N64, with a traditional controller albeit better graphics. Most noticeably for me was playing Gears of War on the 360: although the game is good, the graphics are great but it reminded me a lot of Jet Force Gemini for the N64 in terms of gameplay, but with more features.

If visuals are really that important to the consumer, then do not buy this console as you will be disappointed. However, if you are a true gamer, or even someone who is a novice wanting to start with a brand new generation of gaming (with games such as Wii Sports, and Wii Play) then go for the Wii.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One word.... AMAZING!
Well i pre- ordered my wii 2 weeks ago, first of all i thought it was a waste of money compared to the xbox 360 or the PS3, I was WRONG i played the demo console at my local video game store, fantastic it handles like a dream
1. the motion sensitive contron (Nunchuck) great 2.the console it's self great. 3. the backward compability, the 360 cant do that 4. The games like red steel or zelda played them both quality next gen graphics, addictive game play for the hardened of game fan and well just good Fun.
My opinion is: Buy This NOW, you'll regret it if you dont.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A fine, inexpensive system designed for the whole family
The Nintendo Wii is the most inexpensive of the current generation of gaming consoles. At only $250, it provides motion sensing controllers which are great fun - and 480p graphics which aren't as good as our other two systems.

The Wii is designed around a menu of "channels". These make it very easy for even a non-gamer to start using the console quickly. There is of course the game-playing channel, where the Wii will play any Wii or GameCube game. Simply load the disc in and go - it's a simple front-loading "slot", no carriage to break. There is a Mii channel where you set up a profile and avatar to connect to all your game playing, with many cute options. You can even make your Mii thin or thick. The Photos channel lets you look at photos on your TV, although its loading options are limited. Other channels for news, weather, and online shopping require an interent connection, and at least at launch aren't available yet.

The system does NOT have a regular network cable port, which both the PS3 and XBox 360 have. Instead, it works with built in wireless or with a USB network adapter. I am a firm proponent of wireless - less clutter! So I am thrilled that they offer wireless automatically. With the PS3, you have to pay the extra $100 for the 60 gig unit to get this built in. The XBox 360 doesn't have it at all. We had our wireless up and running in about 5 minutes.

It's hard to generalize gameplay on any console - it really depends on what games you buy. That being said, the comes-with-it software of Sports is really quite fun to play and is about as basic as you can get. We've had 8 year olds and adults try it out and really enjoy it. You swing at baseballs, lob tennis balls, bowl, box and play golf. A "fitness" mode puts you through a variety of tasks and then calculates your fitness age, sort of like how Brain Age keeps track of your mental age. If you did both every day, you could aim to be as fit mentally and physically as possible!

In a world where video games = couch potato, it really is quite amazing to have a game where it natively expects you to move and be active. You don't lounge back and gain pounds here while playing games. Boxing can be quite strenuous, jabbing, blocking and weaving in real life. Tennis involves quick reflexes and strong arm movements. Bowling might be the most relaxed of the sports, but even there you are standing, moving, swinging. You get your heart going at least a little, and get some exercise. My boyfriend found his arms were sore after a few hours of fun gaming.

The 480p resolution is certainly not high def 1080p like our other two systems. It's something you accept when you're paying such a low price for the console. But really, it's not that big a deal. I still play the old Zeldas and love them for their gameplay, even though you can't see the pores in Link's face. If they are going for the cartooney characters and environments, 480p is DVD quality and is quite good. If you really, really crave high definition super realism in your games, then the Wii might not be the best choice for you. However, if you're fine with playing games with a more impressionist / cartooney look to them, the 480p can show that quite nicely. For example, in Wii baseball, there aren't fans in the bleachers - just colored blocks.

Nintendo has always been known as a "Kid's Console" since the release of the gamecube - but I really do think with the Wii that they have become a all round console combining a slick looking console with software that appeals to the hardcore gamer aswell as the casual. It's not just kids who will enjoy this. Seniors can have fun bowling without knowing anything "Tricky" about how to use a video game unit. It's very intuitive. Moms can easily play with their kids, each with their own Wii profile. Adults having parties can have fun passing the controllers around. Family groups can share slideshows on the big screen while hanging out and drinking wine.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Nintendo are back
having been a nintendo fan for over 20 years I am really glad they are back with a bang.

I loved the N64 and Gamecube but I guess they were relative failures compared to the nes and Snes but here is the Wii flying off the shelves and with the delay with the playstation3 they have a chance to get ahead of Sony,In Europe anyway.

I was lucky enough to get one from Amazon and boy did they sell out quickly! Less than 2 weeks before I am back in the land of Hyrule and swinging my sword at those bad guys . I can hardly wait.!

Welcome back Nintendo.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - wwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been playing games for 21 years and I have had many consoles from spectrum, Atari, Neo Geo, Sega and of course Nintendo. People keep judging these games machines on graphical power. It doesn't work that way.
High tech machines can easily kill a good game. Developers concentrating to much on how it looks as appose to the import things like gameplay, plot and character design just look at some movies where special effects have destroyed a film. Nintendo have risked graphical power and expense and have designed a adfordable and inovative machine. When you play a Nintendo game it's such a great experience gameplay, fun and a real sense of involvement a emotional journey lost in another world Zelda springs to mind.

Incredible. I thought I could wait till after work to get the Wii. I never would have thought so many people wanted to buy it off amazon after seeing all the different places you could buy it in. But, when I logged on to pre-order it, they were gone. Bad news for me, but great for Nintendo. They are completley killing the PS3!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - wow that was quick WII
omg that was quick i got the email from amazon about pre order and thank good i magned to get one AND they are sold out already its mad well it shows just how much the wii is going to kick ps3 ass hope every one that wanted one got one :)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Tried and Tested
I was at bluewater on saturday 18th November and played on one of two wii consoles available to play on. I played the tennis game on Wii Sports, it was really fun and the controls felt really natural, it took about 10 seconds to get used to the controls and it was very responsive. If you swung too late the ball would fly off to the side of the court and swinging the remote faster or slower definitely made a difference to how far the ball went. The graphics are definitely not the best out of the three next generation consoles, but that doesn't matter when the gameplay is as fun as it is, and the graphics are definitely not awful. The tennis game looked very good, and the Mii feature is a nice add on. You did not get the chance to make your own but they had a small selection on pre created mii's that you could choose from. I did not get a chance to play on the other game on show, Wii Play but I was watching other people play it and they seemed to be enjoying it alot. People from all ages were playing. I would suggest this as an ideal christmas present for parents and children alike.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wii
Admittedly i will be buying the PS3 as i am a dedicated Sony fan and the prospect of the graphics power appeals to me.
But, i must hand it to them, Nintendo have come up with something brilliant, in fact i may consider it in the future as a secondary console, i agree with earlier points on graphics, and that instead of state of the art powerful graphics Ninetendo have focussed on their gameplay and style to get the player involved. I mean, for any Star Wars fan, can you imagine playing as a Jedi or Sith on here?! Amazing! Ultimatley i think that though Ninetendo dont have the graphics power, they certainly have created a fun affordable option as an alternative to Xbox or the PS3.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Controller Genius
As a gaming girl, I am inordinately excited about the Wii controller, because it totally caters to the way girls naturally play video games (controller sideways when cornering, you know what I'm talking about). For me it's worth it for that innovation alone, and I see it as a complement to my PS2. I look forward to no longer being supine when I play video games and hope we'll all get a bit more exercise while doing our favourite thing.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Nintendo revert
Since the announcement of the next title race between ps3, x box and the Wii, I thought I had lost faith in what Nintendo were producing. I had bought a ps2 after the N64 because I wanted to play the bigger titles that were only being released on it, I could not have been more wrong. Since getting the ps2 I found the gameplay of the games (with exception to grand theft auto, which took a while longer) was shockingly bad. I'd think back to when I had a Nintendo 64 and Snes and realise how much better the game play was and how much more I played (and still do play) all the old titles, even without the great graphics.
This brings me to the discussion of the Wii. This Christmas I will be buying the Wii. This is because sure, when you play a game and the graphics are stunning, it is beautiful. When I saw the graphics on splinter cell chaos theory I was stunned but I still didn't finish the game before I was bored. The gameplay though on all the Nintendo consoles were brilliant. Such things as Goldeneye, Zelda Donkey Kong etc.
Nintendo have realised that their games have the gameplay quality, and have taken the risk of designing this new controller, which lets be honest, makes the user feel like their actually controlling the character rather than just sitting down button bashing. So whereas the PS3 will have the best graphics, the top companies now have a new outlet to build ideas around, with the Wii.
To put all that together, the Wii will not have the best graphics, (though they will still be good) but the new idea with the controller will give the designers more freedom to design with, attracting them to the new Wii console, and still retain the exclusive Nintendo classics and flawless gameplay, which will keep people playing for hours. This is why I will defiantly be going back to Nintendo.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wiil you like it? I think so!
Me and my son have just got back from Nintendo's roadshow in Brighton, and I have to say that this remarkable. I don't know much about what goes on inside a console, and to be frank after seeing this I don't really mind. When I played myself I found this to be extremely fun to play aswell as watch (games such as Wario Ware can be quite entertaining!). I feel this is the perfect present for anyone this Christmas, keeping active is a problem for gamers. This console makes you move, and enjoy doing it! The price is also very good, in terms of the new consoles I was very wary about buying any, until I saw this price tag, and that's including a game! It has even persuaded me to put a bit more money than I usually would out because the extra controllers make all the fun!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - WOW!!!
This games console is amazing!!! The sensor on the remote lets you feel like you're in the game!! First nintendo brought out the ds that has a amazing touchscreen now they have the nintendo wii!! Games console cant get much better than this!!!!! ^_^

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Wii
Okay, so theres the Nintendo fans, and the non-Nintendo fans. The non-Nintendo fans think that Nintendo consoles are worse than either the Xbox 360 or PS3 because it may have graphics that aren't quite as detailed and titles that may not seem appealing. There have also been questions about whether the Wii's controller will actually work or if it will just be a complete failure. But I can be certain that the Wii and it's new controller and gameplay style will work and it will be one of the best things that has ever happened to computer gaming.
Sure, Nintendo's graphics are not as good as the PS3's, but I'm not after amazingly out of this world graphics! I'm after something new, and Nintendo have provided that something new!
As for the titles, there's Zelda, Super Mario, Super Smash Bros, Red Steel and even Wii Sports to look forward to, plus a lot more cracking releases than that. So whoever said that Nintendo don't release good titles either didn't look at the releases they are making or they're just a bit nuts!

Rather than just revamp the graphics, Nintendo have decided to get their graphics up to date and focus on introducing this new controller style of gameplay. I am 110% sure this controller will be fun and reliable because of the amount of work that's gone into it. As you can see, the Wii console is very affordable at £179.99, but controllers however, are pretty pricey at aorund £30. This then proves that their has been a fiar amount go into this controller, showing that it's a high quality and professional piece of gaming hardware, not just a cheap bit of non-reliant rubbish.

The Wii, unlike the PS3 is not ridiculosly overpriced, and is going to be fantastic fun. I am eagerly awaiting Christmas for my pre-order to arrive!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - We love Wii.
Not only are the xbox360 and ps3 remarkably similiar(and far more expensive).
They are ALSO remarkably similar to the last generation of consoles in everyway except prettier make-up(graphics).
When you are truly immersed in a game, the graphics become taken for granted, gameplay counts.
Plus the extra detail in sonys cames cause the frame-rate to suffer and runs at mostly 30fps in the better graphical games,as does xbox360 killer app GEARS OF WAR, this is something else that hinders immersion into a game as action can stutter on screen, this frame rate is also very last-generation.
The wii has 60fps on all most if not all the games I'm aware of, and In my opinion, only the wii truly offers next generation gaming with the motion sensitive controls, something sony delayed the design of their own controller to try and emulate, but it is a shameless and virtually useless 'tacked-on-at-the-last-minute' gimmick, that shows a little desperation.
NO game developer anywhere in the world, has the back-catologue and exclusive in-house franchises that nintendo have, lets not forget nintendo games are and have always been the best selling games in the history of the industry only ONE game comes even close to breaking that monopoly and thats grand theft auto.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - ex nintendo fan, open to persuasion
I have always owned nintendo games machines up to and including the gamecube. However, as i have grown older, i have come to realise that Nintendo just don't seem to get enough good titles in the life of its machines.

the Zelda games are good as are the Metroid and Mario titles and as these are Ninty exclusives you would expect as much.

It is just unfortunate that when multi format games are released to include a ninty system. the ninty version always seems to be a slightly poor relation to other formats.

I agree that gameplay is more important than graphics when it comes to buying a game, (thats why i use a rental service) but if you have the same game with the same gameplay on 2 systems, would you not choose to go for the one that has the extra polish?

In my case, i bought a 360 and have never been happier. The gameplay on some titles is great (battlefield 2, geometry wars, lego star wars) and the graphics being so good makes it a joy to play.

I hope that the wii and it's online play are as good as everyone seems to hope.

I have a feeeling that the wii 360 combo is likely to become quite common as the Wii seems likely to continue Nintendo's tradition of having a lot of more light-hearted titles which will make a nice break from the intense battles and concentration in the more hardcore 360 games.

I for one, wish Ninendo all the best with this launch and am looking forward to the Wii proving to be another nail in the playstation 3 coffin.

I can't see why anyone (except hardcore playstation fans) will spend so much money on a system using a format (blueray) that may not get enough support and appears to be having a lot of problems with quality and data compression. Why not buy a wii 360 combo? If Blueray wins the HD video wars (like betamax, minidisc, SACD... all sony supported innovations????) i am sure that a blueray player add on will be launched for the 360. So fao the same price as a premium PS3 you will be able to buy a Wii 360 combo.

I have rambled off topic here so sorry, i have my fingers crossed for a succesful christmas for the Wii and i hope that all you Ninty fans get a good machine and a good gaming experience.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - The only New Generation console
The Wii is innovative and wants to take gaming to the masses in a similar way to the Nintendo DS has done. Whilst the Wii, like the DS, lacks the horsepower of it's rivals it makes up for it with original ideas and some outstanding titles available or in the works. People said the DS would fail but it outsells the PSP around the world and people say the Wii is a novelty.....Wii shall see!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wii-tastic
I agree with the previous reviewer that you need to ignore the review by Gamer and ignore his stupid rating. I am what I like to call a "hardcore" Nintendo fan and have followed them since the NES and have never really been disappointed by what they do, except maybe for ROB but that was just a lame add on and not a console in its self, so that doesn't count.

Look at the history of Nintendo and the great games they offer - or KILLER games as Gamer would say - as well as the technological advancements in how we play games.

NES had the original Zelda and Donkey Kong and introduced us to the D-Pad which defined the way we play games today

Super NES had the amazing Link to the Past and Super Mario World (which I played yesterday - never get bored of that one) and introduced us to the shoulder buttons which allowed gamers to go that one step further and developers to create trickier games.

The Virtual Boy was next and even though this never succeeded to do well it showed how far ahead in advance Nintendo was for the time and although I don't own one but I have played on one and it was, well, a bit bizarre, but at least they try to do something out of the norm!

The N64 had some awesome titles including Goldeneye, Banjo Kazooie, Mario 64 and, of course, Ocarina of Time. The N64 also introduced us to the analogue stick which without we would not be playing half the games we play today.

Then there is the Gameboy - the best and original handheld console which has been revamped a few times over the years and has some amazing games to play from Tetris through to Mario & Luigi.

The doomed Gamecube came next - an amazing console overpowered by XBox and PS2 which left the Cube underrated and understated. But look at some of the games - Wind Waker, Eternal Darkness, Mario Kart Double Dash, Paper Mario and Resident Evil 4 to name just a few of the excellent titles available. And who could forget Donkey Konga - how many other consoles see you playing the bongos?

Finally the DS - an amazing piece of technology with some of the cleverest games ever made - yes there are the great ones such as New Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart DS but the real great games are Trauma Centre, Phoenix Wright, Another Code not forgetting Animal Crossing and Brain Training.

So look back over the history of Nintendo and you will see that the Wii will have some KILLER titles and the launch line up is looking fantasic already with Twilight Princess, Trauma Centre: Second Opinion and Red Steel. And as for the controls - even comparing these to the Eyetoy is completely wrong - the Eyetoy used a whole bunch of (mainly crap) mini-games to play whilst the wireless Remote on the Wii is a brand new way of playing games and will be used to play almost every Wii game from those involving mini-games (Rayman) to epic adventures (Zelda) and even FPS (Red Steel).

My final argument for the Wii is this - PS3 is the main competition and their newest gimmick is a "tilt sensor" built into the remote. I know some PS fans who were going on about this like it was the greatest thing ever created - errrrr, Nintendo did that in 2001 with Kirby Tilt and Tumble on the Gameboy so it is hardly cutting edge technology compared to what the Wii will offer.

So there you have it, although I don't deny that X360 and PS3 will no doubt have some great games on them I believe that the Wii will be the greatest next-gen console due to its creativeness and the fact that Nintedno has a great history of games and is always changing the way we play games. So if you a real gamer and want to actually, physically play games then the Wii is for you - if you are a couch potato who wants to sit on the sofa with a joypad in your hand playing racing games and FPS games then please feel free to spend your £450 on a PS3.

That is all

Oh - one last thing, Blu-Ray player on PS3 - WASTE OF TIME!!!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - When will they learn...
When will Playstation and xbox fans realise that games like Call of Duty and Pro Evo just don't cut the mustard anymore.
Same old boring crap. Nintendo have the answer with this dramatic twist.
Serious about gaming? Buy this baby.

A mate of mine recently bought a PSP. He was dead excited about this 'new revolution in gaming' as he called it. And what game did he get? Wipeout. WIPEOUT!!! I GOT BORED OF WIPEOUT 10 YEARS AGO.

Pathetic.

Good old Nintendo has shown us the way...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wii
To be honest I would completely ignore the comments in Gamer's review. To say that the Wii will not be supported by "killer" titles is just wrong. OK people love PES (it is out on DS and PSP), Tekken and GTA but Nintendo can offer Zelda, Mario, Metroid and Smash Bros. not to mention all the other class titles that will be available on release like Red Steel, Far Cry Vengeance and Call of Duty 3. There is also going to be tonnes of lasting appeal in Wii Sports, the game you get free with the console. You may only sit down and play it by yourself a couple of times but when you've got mates round and you're tired of beating the hell out eachother in Smash Bros. or Red Steel then this is one of the ultimate party games.
The Wii can also offer you so much more than the PS3 and Xbox 360. Those two are essentially the same butthe PS3 is going to be horrendously expensive. They may have vastly superior graphics but the Wii brings a true innovation to gaming. Anyway since when did good graphics make a game. What is the point in having a game that looks better than anything else on the market if its gameplay is lame. Basically there is going to be no better console out this Christmas.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wii-view
While everyone speculates about and compares the upcoming Playstation 3 with the Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii has been overlooked. The Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 are remarkably similar consoles, with the same style of play and graphics as each other. With the Playstation3 appealling to it's huge fanbase from the Playstation2 fanatics, and the Xbox appealling not only to it's fanbase of Xbox players, but also to next generation gamers as it was the first to be released out of the three consoles, it will be difficult for the Wii to find a gap in the market.

On the face it appears to have lower graphic compatibility than both of hte other consoles, but it does appeal to everyone from every background in and away from gaming because of the ingenius control system. Everyone in the family, will be able to pick it up and get along with it, but because of the appeal to everyone, it will - like it's predecessor - be seen as a "kiddy" console. After looking at the release titles of such games as Red Steel and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess with all the fighting, it is so much more.

This is surely one of the must have gadgets for this Christmas, but if you are thinking of getting one, then get four controllers... the old folks may not let you have a go!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wii60
I was lucky enough to get the chance to play the Wii at Nintendo's UK office recently and it really is brilliant. The control system works as it should (very intuitive) and is nice and resposive. I played a 4x4 racing game, Wario Ware and the bundled sports game. I have to say, the graphics I saw were pretty much Gamecube quality but the control system adds to the gameplay so much, the graphics wern't such a concern. The only danger of the Wii is the damage to house and friends when wildly flailing your arms about when you get too into the game. I think the perfect set up is going to be a 360 for the 'regular' games and a Wii for the Nintendo magic (Wii60?)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Innovation at its best
I'll admit when I first heard of the Revolution (it's working title) I was just thinking of Gamecube 2, I wasn't so excited, then I saw the controller, I was surprised and angry at first because it didn't seem convenient to use, but then I realised what glorious possibilities this console has once I found out about its killer weapon. A Motion sensor.

Nintendo have always been the one that tried different things. Whilst not necessarily new ideas, Nintendo can shape them into potential masterpieces, just look at the DS. It might not be everyone's cup of tea but the innovation is still there.

The Wii looks and probably will be be a masterpiece. Nintendo have possibly turned this console from "Gamecube 2" into "Next Generation Legend"

The console has several new features, although some may not be necessary it is nice that they are there, such as News and Weather channels. You also have the Mii channel, where you can create a digital version of yourself to use in games like Wii sports. A nice touch. You also have the Wii shop channel, where over 20 years worth of Nintendo and Sega titles can be downloaded for minimum price (below £10)

Now I move on to the graphics, if you're the type of person who dissmisses a game soley on the graphics (you know who you are) shame on you. They aren't Xbox 360 and PS3 standard, but they are an improvement on the 'cube graphics, and look astonishing in some games (Mario Galaxy/Red Steel anyone?)

Launch games/ upcoming games are pretty decent to, Nintendo have diminished its Kiddy image with the likes of Red Steeland Project H.A.M.M.E.R. The long anticipated Twilight Princess finally makes its appearance on both Gamecube and Wii, with protagonist Link looking more serious than ever. Thw Wii also has free online play.

In conclusion, Wii is something special. It shows you don't need pure grunt to be great. Any person worthy of the "games fan" title will know Gameplay should dominate over graphics. So don't wait until March 2007 to spend £500 odd on a graphics machine, the Wii has all you'll ever need for £179!
