Doris Day

Doris Day (1924-    )
As well loved as any female movie star, Doris Day began her showbusiness career as a successful singer, before launching her career as a film star in 'Romance On The High Seas (1948)'.

Originally called Doris Kappelhoff, Doris made her mark in film musicals such as 'Calamity Jane (1953)' and 'Young At Heart (1954)', before switching to romantic comedies like 'The Pajama Game (1957)', 'Pillow Talk (1959)', and 'Lover Come Back (1961)'. Famous Doris Day songs include 'Secret Love', 'Move Over, Darling', 'Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera)', 'Sentimental Journey', and 'Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps'.

In latter years, America's popular sweetheart has, not surprisingly, dedicated her life to animal welfare issues, including founding The Doris Day Animal Foundation
and Doris Day Animal League - Advancing Animal Advocacy.
