Jack Nicholson (1937- )
Jack Nicholson is the master of the manic, notably in 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975)', for which he won a Best Actor Oscar, and 'The Shining (1980)'.

Nicholson was born in Neptune, New Jersey, and it was his association with producer/director Roger Corman that kick-started his movie career as an actor, writer, and producer. His big break came in 'Easy Rider (1969)', after a year earlier co-producing and co-writing The Monkees movie 'Head (1968)'. Nicholson's free spirit was then ideally suited as Robert Eroica Dupea in his first big lead, in 'Five Easy Pieces (1970)'.

Though revelling in wild, anti-social roles, Jack Nicholson is arguably the most gifted movie star to come out of the 1960s and 1970s, and he also won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar in that un-Nicholson-like film, 'Terms Of Endearment (1983)', and another Best Actor Oscar in 'As Good As It Gets (1997)'.
