Kim Basinger
Kim Basinger (1953- )
Kim
Basinger is a beautiful woman who has always been able to combine
her natural sexiness with comedy, especially. She's also not been
scared to send up that image, such as when playing the
ridiculously named Honey Horneé in 'Wayne's World 2 (1993)'.
Kim really
made her name in the late '70s/early '80s TV series 'From Here to
Eternity', and her first big movie break came when she played
Bond girl Domino Petachi in 1983's 'Never Say Never Again'. She followed that up with shooting Robert
Redford in 'The Natural (1984)', and in the steamy (no wonder the
ice was needed) 'Nine 1/2 Weeks (1986)'. She then appeared in
that nod at silly '50s sci-fi/B-movies, 'My Stepmother Is An
Alien (1988)', and as the sweet Vicky Vale in the impressive
updating of 'Batman (1989)'.
In recent
years, Kim has won acclaim for her meatier roles, especially as
prostitute Lynn Bracken in 'L.A. Confidential (1997)', which won
her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She also played
Eminem's mum in '8 Mile (2002)'.
Kim
Basinger was a shy child from Athens, Georgia, and still retains
some of that shyness, so is an unlikely movie star because of
that. A compassionate woman, Kim is a devoted animal lover and
supporter of PETA.
