Raw War
RAW WAR are another band set for a good year. Currently negotiating a recording agreement and gigging in the London area, their most recent recordings have been a couple of fine demos -- the most recent consisting of two 16-track recordings (see TAPE REVIEW SECTION). The band answered the following questions...
Why have you decided to change your style to something harder?
We just jump on any bandwagon and hopefully one day it will be the right one!! No -- seriously, we don't consider that we've changed, so much as moved on -- "a natural progression" you might say!
What are your views on the current "chart" performers?
Bit dull. Needs an injection of fresh blood, i.e.: us! Too much emphasis on videos and O.T.T. production.
How was the band formed?
Paul was playing Bebop; Simon was in cabaret; Morgan was in a Welsh male voice choir; Derek was in a country & Western band and Mark was in a skiffle band. We all met when our respective minibuses collided in a service station just north of Watford (the ed had better not say he took all this seriously on first reading...).
To what extent do you think a producer like James Guthrie will change your sound?
A good producer is essential as we all have so many ideas that we need a sixth ear to make the decisions.
Has the band any political ideals and, if so, would you write about them?
We don't mix our politics with our music.
What are your ambitions for '85?
Same as for the last "X" years -- to make it!
