Benny Hill Star Henry
McGee Dies
Written by Paul Rance
Saturday, 4 February 2006
One of Benny Hill's main stooges, Henry McGee,
passed away early last week, aged 77. He had been fighting
Alzheimer's disease for a long time.
Along with Bob Todd, Jackie Wright, and Rita Webb, McGee was an
excellent foil to Benny Hill's impish humour, often playing the
smirking, pretentious interviewer - which he did to perfection.
Henry McGee appeared in a number of top-notch British TV shows,
including 'The Avengers', 'The Saint', and 'The Protectors'. He
was also popular with British schoolchildren, as the lovable
Honey Monster's friend in the Sugar Puffs ads. But he will be
most fondly remembered for his appearances on 'The Benny Hill
Show' in the 1970s and 1980s.
