The Turtles, originally The
Tyrtles, were an American group popular in the 1960s for their
rich harmonies and memorable tunes. The Bob Dylan song, 'It Ain't
Me Babe', gave The Turtles their first American top 10 in the
summer of 1965, but their golden year was 1967, with the hits
'She'd Rather Be With Me' and 'Happy Together' - the latter being
a number one in the US. Also memorable were the silly lines in
their songs, i.e. "So happy together/How is the weather? (Happy
Together)", and "I think you're groovy/Let's go to a
movie (Elenore)".
