GROUP A

Hannover, Tuesday, June 20th

Costa Rica 1
Gomez 24
Poland 2
Bosacki (2) 33, 66

HT: 1-1
Att: 43, 000

A game between two already eliminated teams was memorable for some goalkeeping howlers.

Ronald Gomez's first half free kick went through Polish 'keeper Artur Boruc's legs, but then Poland equalised when Costa Rican 'keeper, Jose Porras, slipped going for a corner, allowing Bartosz Bosacki to finish well. The same player then put in a bullet header in the second half, after Porras had stayed on his line for another corner. Paulo Wanchope had a goal ruled out for Costa Rica, who, after a bright beginning, faded in this tournament.
