The 2006 World Cup in Germany
|
|||||
This was a routine victory for Germany against an under-strength Ecuador side. The hosts stormed into an early lead, when Miroslav Klose clinically finished from Bastian Schweinsteiger's cutback. Klose became the leading scoring of the finals, when latching on to a cheeky, chipped Michael Ballack pass, and rounded 'keeper, Christian Mora, for Germany's second just before half time. The two goals were the only notable action of a dreary first half. Lukas Podolski dragged a shot just wide after the break, but got his first goal of the finals for Germany not long after, when he stretched to convert a Bernd Schneider cross. On a sunny day in Berlin, Germany looked as if they were finding form, though the opposition hasn't really stretched them as yet. - Paul Rance/booksmusicfilmstv.com. |
