GROUP B

Berlin, Thursday, June 15th

Paraguay 0 Sweden 1
Ljungberg 89

HT: 0-0
Att: 72, 000

Another frustrating night for Sweden, which looked like leaving them sweating on their World Cup progress, until Arsenal's Freddie Ljungberg's late header secured an unlikely victory, and he nearly scored again, with a stinging shot which was brilliantly saved by Aldo Bobadilla.

A spanking Kim Kallstrom shot was the first serious attempt on goal, which Paraguayan goalkeeper Bobadilla saved well. The Swedes were the better side in the first half, with Henrik Larsson shooting just wide, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic wasting a good chance, shooting weakly at the 'keeper. Paraguay's one worthy effort was an angled drive from Jorge Nunez, which he hammered just wide. In the second half, a Larsson free kick forced another good save out of Bobadilla, and Swedish sub Marcus Allback's close range effort was saved virtually on the goal-line, then he saw another effort brilliantly hooked away by Denis Caniza, before his header across goal set up Ljungberg for the dramatic finale.
