The 2006 World Cup in Germany

The Ukraine impressed in Hamburg, gaining their first World Cup finals win in one of the most one-sided games of the tournament so far. Taking an early lead, when Andriy Rusol touched in a corner, with his knee, the Ukraine went on to dominate the game. A stunning, curling 30 yard effort by Sergei Rebrov flew in, with Saudi 'keeper, Mabrouk Zaid, left flat-flooted by the shot and the wet conditions. 40 seconds into the second half, Chelsea new boy, Andriy Shevchenko, easily headed in a free kick for the Ukraine's third. A fierce angled shot from Maxim Kalinichenko hit the bar, before Kalinichenko was set up by Shevchenko to tap in the fourth. - Paul Rance/booksmusicfilmstv.com. |
