Pamela Anderson - Biography
Pamela Anderson, though being one of the great female icons of our age, is a lot more than that. Her work with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and the American Liver Foundation has revealed her to be a compassionate young woman. And for any Pam wannabes that's one of the secrets of her success. A pretty face, great hair, and a good figure will only get you so far, but the general public like a woman to be compassionate and vulnerable - a reason Marilyn Monroe has endured.
Larger than life, Pammy was pretty much born famous, being the first baby born on Canada's Centennial Day, on July 1st, 1967, in Ladysmith, British Columbia. She became instantly famous as Canada's 'Centennial Baby'.
She was not to be so famous until 1989, when, by chance, she was at a British Columbia football game, in a Labatt's beer T-shirt. Pamela was picked out by the camera, shown on a big screen, and was offered the chance to promote the beer - which she had been doing freely anyway.
Pamela Anderson's fame quickly grew. Firstly with a 'Playboy' shoot, then with getting a part in the American sitcom, 'Home Improvement', in 1991. Her most famous role came a year later as CJ Parker in 'Baywatch'. Pamela, in her tight, high-cut red swimsuit, remains an iconic image of the '90s.
Subsequently, Pamela has appeared in movies, notably 'Barb Wire', which was a vehicle for her, has had her own TV series, 'V.I.P.', and made an appearance at the World Wrestling Federation's Wrestlemania XI in 1995. She received the Linda McCartney Award for animal rights protectors in 1999.
There has been the usual salacious tabloid stories about her, and, of course, THAT video. The ups and downs of Pamela's marriage to Mötley Crüe's Tommy Lee have certainly been grist to the tabloid mill. It wasn't all bad, though, as two sons, Brandon and Dylan, came out of the marriage. Since the break-up, Pam has allegedly had affairs with the likes of Dean Cain, Sylvester Stallone, and Ben Affleck, but who believes a tabloid?
In 2004, Pamela launched her first novel, 'Star', is currently a columnist for the Canadian 'Elle' magazine, is in the American Fox TV sitcom, the appropriately named 'Stacked', and is a voice artist for the 'Stripperella' cartoon series. Pamela Anderson's pursuit for justice for animals is undimmed, and, though she has had health problems, rumours of her early demise are, happily, just another rumour.
