John Hegley - Glad To Wear Glasses Book Review

Share

John Hegley (1953-    )
John Hegley comes from Luton, Bedfordshire, in England, and is one of Britain's most respected poets. His witty, observational poems, about the travails of life, are a healthy antidote to the prevalent 'I want to slash my own wrists' doom and gloom poets.

John first came to prominence with some Radio One sessions on the BBC's legendary John Peel show in 1983, and he has since produced several collections of his work, including 1990's 'Glad To Wear Glasses'. Hegley has also worked in some tough environments, i.e. The Comedy Store and a woman's prison in Colombia!

John Hegley is a fan of Luton Town FC - a club that always give a poet much to write about.
