'The Protectors' was a popular British TV action series of the early 1970s, created by the great Gerry Anderson, and starring the beautiful Nyree Dawn Porter as the Contessa Caroline di Contini, 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.' legend Robert Vaughn as Harry Rule, and young hearthrob Tony Anholt as Paul Buchet.

The show ran for two series on ITV in 1972 and 1973, and all 52 episoders were only 25 minutes long. The theme song by Tony Christie, 'Avenues and Alleyways', remains one of the most memorable opening songs to any TV series.
