Edward G. Robinson

Edward G. Robinson (1893-1973)
Romanian-born, Edward G. Robinson was one of the great stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood of the 1930s and 1940s.

An experienced Broadway actor, Robinson's first big role on screen was in 'Little Caesar (1931)', and he was to specialise in gangster roles, being the most famous movie tough guy of the '30s and '40s, alongside James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart.

The McCarthy witch-hunt in the 1950s harmed Robinson's career, like so many others, and he never reached the same heights again.
