Stanley Baker

Stanley Baker (1927-1976)
Stanley Baker was one of those great actors who often gets overlooked. Seeming mature beyond his years, Baker was comparable with fellow Welshman Richard Burton. He is probably best remembered for his role as the indomitable Chard, in that outstanding British war movie, 'Zulu (1964)'. Baker also impressed as a lorry driver who wouldn't toe the line in 'Hell Drivers (1957)', as a sadistic athletics coach in 'The Games (1970)', and as an unlikely criminal in the crime comedy, 'Perfect Friday (1970)'.
