IRRE Tapes Compilations
Kronstadt/Toshiyuki Hiraoka (Cassette)
A split tape with Berlin's Kronstadt kicking off. Mostly melodic material; in "Opening" - booming synth, brooding and Floydian, there is a change, as that is a real penetrator. "Askania" is a rich sound, moving rhythms and melodies. "El Garbi" reminds me of "Bunker Soldiers" by OMD; strong, strident synth. Toshiyuki's material is more harsh, with stop-starts, as in "Ore", but there is some stunning guitar work here, original and dexterous.
