The Stone Roses Brief Biography

The Stone Roses were one of the groups that fought back against the manufactured groups that were threatening to kill British music in the late 1980s. The Roses were at the forefront of an exciting era of indie music, which typically attracted the more studious type of music fan, who valued content above hype.

In Ian Brown The Stone Roses had a charismatic frontman. While guitarist John Squire, bassist Mani and drummer Reni combined to create music inspired by a variety of music genres, including rock, psychedelia and funk.

The Stone Roses helped to make Manchester the centre of Britain's musical universe in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and their eponymous debut album, 'The Stone Roses', was one of the best albums of the whole decade. Combining memorable melodies with musical invention The Stone Roses best songs include 'I Wanna Be Adored', 'Sally Cinnamon', 'She Bangs The Drums', 'Made Of Stone', 'Waterfall', 'Fools Gold', 'This Is The One' and 'I Am The Resurrection'.

After the band was dissolved in 1996, The Stone Roses enjoyed a glorious comeback in 2012. They are now considered one of the most important British rock groups of all-time, and are admired because they 'made it' on their own terms.
