To British reality TV fans, Shilpa Shetty is known for winning 'Celebrity Big Brother', but the girl is an award winning Indian actress, has appeared in around 50 films, and has campaigned for worthy causes such as PETA and HIV-AIDS, and done a bit of modelling.
Born on June 8th, 1975, in Tamil Nadu, India, Shilpa's film career began in 1993 with her appearance in 'Baazigar'. A year later she took her first lead in 'Aag'. Shilpa Shetty won a clutch of film awards from 1998 onwards, including winning Bollywood Best Supporting Actress in 1998 for her role as Chinni Malhotra in 'Pardesi Babu', and several awards for her performance in 2004 film, 'Phir Milenge'.
In 2007, Shilpa appeared on and won 'Celebrity Big Brother' on British TV's Channel 4, which included the much publicised racism row, where Shilpa was seen being bullied by Jade Goody, Jo O'Meara, and Danielle Lloyd. This was British television at its worst.
Shilpa Shetty later showed compassion towards Jade Goody, when peace was restored between the two, before Jade's passing at such a ridiculously young age.
