THE CREEPSHOW
Live at the Met Lounge, Peterborough

Write Dope on Pnuk part 47

Support for the evening came from local bands The Destructors 666 & The Ruined and Norwich-based horror punks Fletch Cadillac. The main act though were Canadian psychobillies The Creepshow.

Psychobilly (if you can't remember the early '80s) are punked-up rockabillies, playing rootsy tunes often with horror themes. Think The Cramps meet The Stray Cats.

The Creepshow are a four-piece band fronted by Hellcat Blackwood on guitar and vocals. The double bass had a big skull stuck on the top. Song titles include 'Creatures Of The Night', 'Sell Your Soul (title of their CD), 'Zombies Ate Her Brain', and 'Psycho Ball And Chain'. All very EC. Live, they also performed The Ramones 'Pet Cemetery' (trivia fans did you know that the island Princess Di was allegedly buried on had previously been the family pet cemetery?).

Good at what they do, I hope they earned the fans they deserve on their British tour. A tour that included an appearance at the first Psyco Bash.
