Folk legend Mary Travis finally lost her brave five year fight aginst leukaemia on September 16th, 2009. She was 72.

Part of the Peter, Paul and Mary trio, Mary Travis was at the forefront of the folk boom of the 1960s, with Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Donovan, and Simon & Garfunkel.

Famous for songs 'Puff The Magic Dragon', Dylan's 'Blowin' In The Wind', and 'The Times They Are A-Changin'', Peter, Paul and Mary's final hit was their biggest success - a lilting recording of John Denver's 'Leaving On A Jet Plane', which topped the US singles chart in 1969.

I'll remember being enchanted by, and singing along to, 'Puff The Magic Dragon' as a small child, and Mary's beautiful blonde hair blowing in the wind as her soul went into orbit belting out 'The Times They Are A-Changin''. Sadly, they haven't really. Too many good hearts have left us, and too many bad ones remain.
