Paul Simon is one of the most gifted songwriters in the history of popular music. First finding fame in that most famous of singing duos, Simon and Garfunkel, with Art Garfunkel in the 1960s, Simon has written long-lasting songs of beautiful melody and rich in lyrical content, such as 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'Homeward Bound', 'The Boxer', 'The Sound Of Silence', 'Mrs. Robinson', 'I Am A Rock', and 'For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her'. Simon showed signs of embracing music other than his American/British folk roots, with the Latin American style folk of 'El Condor Pasa (If I Could)', written with Jorge Milchberg and Daniel A. Robles. Paul Simon stretched himself further with one of the seminal albums of the 1980s, 'Graceland', embracing African music, and then adding his own twist. - Paul Rance/booksmusicfilmstv.com.
