Ingrid Riley - Shadows Run Free (Booklet)

A collection of poetry well produced by The Third Alternative Press, complete with glossy cover. Split into three sections - 'Shadows'; 'Light'; 'Clouds'; subject matter includes war, cloning, starvation, nature, love, music. This is well written with sparkling imagery, i.e. from 'In The Country': "Weed tall enough to wrap a fairy in,/I look upon this world through poetry eyes/When every colour glows in wondrous myth." Then in 'Silence', on returning to Heaven: "Sail through cold deserts of night,/Touching fragments of extinguished stars." This is one of the best small press poetry booklets I've read, as virtually every poem has something.

- Paul Rance, Peace & Freedom, Vol. 13, No. 1, Autumn 1998
