TINA TURNER DVDs & Videos available from Amazon.co.uk |
Tina Turner (real name Anna Mae Bullock) was born in Brownsville, Tennessee, on November 26th, 1939. She made her name with husband Ike in the 1960s and 1970s, with songs such as the raucous 'Nutbush City Limits', and the soulful and bluesey, 'River Deep, Mountain High'. In her mid-40s she struck a blow for middle-aged women everywhere, by being just about the sexiest female singer around. As no doubt Mick Jagger would have testified at Live Aid in 1985. Tina had hits with 'Private Dancer', 'We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome) [from the 'Mad Max' film]', and What's Love Got To Do with It', around this time. Her 1989 hit, 'The Best', is probably her most famous song - still being played endlessly at sporting occasions. - Paul Rance, Peace & Freedom Press. |
