A wonderfully entertaining, and informative book describing life in England at the turn of the millennium - the first millennium.
Historically, it is hardly a dry piece of work, even dealing with the origins of four letter words.
It seems, also, that people a thousand years ago weren't the cruel people we are often led to believe they were. Nature and animals were also respected.
