THE POETRY OF CHARLEY SHAW |
FALLING
By CHARLEY SHAW
Falling,
Free falling
Through a time,
A sky,
Another place
Blurred and misty pictures, absent of your face
Just dropping, as if from a cloud
Silent peace, breathe too loud
Falling through a white room, with no end in sight
Falling through a space,
That's neither dark nor light
WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING
By CHARLEY SHAW
I closed my eyes,
And learnt to sigh
I paced the room,
And greeted the stars
I exhausted the times,
You can kneel by a bed
As I stared part at you and part into space
Absentmindedly brushing, the hair from your face
I smiled to nothing, though I thought I would cry
As I longed to meet your gaze, as the sun met the sky
I both cursed myself, and worshipped you
As if you were a god
I died that night, and came alive
My love,
While you were sleeping
FALLEN SUMMER
By CHARLEY SHAW
Bird song, echoes through
The over turned leaf, that's settled
Long dead and crisp,
Upon the rich brown floor
Hands held, beneath a cloudless sky
Are dropped, released, and I watch you from afar now,
Through Guy Fawkes flames, and a whole year older
UNTITLED
By CHARLEY SHAW
I didn't know where to look
I couldn't pray
When I don't believe
I didn't know where to look
The wood, the flag
The floral scent and heavy rain
I didn't know where to look
Among all those bowed heads

CHARLEY is from Surrey, and among her pet hates, when 17, were builders. Whether they still are remains to be seen! Previously a Featured Poet in PEACE & FREEDOM.
