COMING HOME
(1978)

Possibly the best of the Vietnam related movies, with Oscar winning performances from Jon Voight and Jane Fonda as Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively.

Jon Voight plays Luke Martin, an embittered Vietnam vet and paraplegic, and Jane Fonda plays Sally Hyde, an old friend of Martin's who falls for him while working as a volunteer at a veteran's hospital. Disillusioned with her marriage to a captain serving in Vietnam (Bruce Dern), it's easy to see why the charismatic Martin wins her heart.

A grim film, but one of a number of films of the era which didn't glamourise war - as so many movies had done before.
