WHEN THE WIND BLOWS
'When The Wind Blows' is a fantastic, poignant British animation film, about an elderly couple obliviously meeting their doom in a nuclear holocaust. They naively believe they'll be all right if they follow the instructions of 'a what to do when under nuclear attack' Government manual. There are superb, understated performances by John Mills and Peggy Ashcroft, in an adaptation of a Raymond Briggs novel. He also wrote the script. Though the Cold War may be over, 'When The Wind Blows' still resonates today in exposing how governments seem to think that their populations are stupid. Directed by Jimmy Murakami, with music by Roger Waters of Pink Floyd. - Paul Rance/booksmusicfilmstv.com. |
