ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ
'Escape From Alcatraz' is one of Clint Eastwood's finest films, as he plays a prisoner who will use ingenious means to escape one of America's most notorious prisons. Based around real life Alcatraz escapee Frank Morris, this is a gritty film, but is not overly violent. Patrick McGoohan impresses as the prison's warden, and seems to lack any semblance of humanity, and possibly because of this we're rooting for Morris all the way. Clint plays the tough guy with a soft centre, as he befriends the prison's mouse, but he's tough when he needs to be, and is mentally tough and brave enough to try and escape. - Paul Rance/booksmusicfilmstv.com. |
